1. Our wedding will be outdoors. What are some things we need to consider?
  • The trio needs a flat, dry surface to play on.
  • Because instrument varnish is very delicate, it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. Even a drop of rain can ruin our one-of-kind instruments.
  • Temperature extremes make the instruments go out-of-tune. That's not pleasant for anyone.
2. What are my options for keeping the instruments safe at an outdoor wedding?
  • Most wedding venues can provide you with a 10 foot by 10 foot canopy. Make certain you decide exactly who will be setting this up, and at what time. Remember that we will be ready to play 30 minutes prior to your ceremony start time, so we will need the tent safely set up by that time. Many clients have also rented these canopies.
  • Some locations have very large trees which offer adaquate shade. Please discuss with us well in advance if you wish to use "natural protection from the elements.
3. What else does the trio need?
  • Three straight-backed chairs without arms.
  • If indoors, adaquate lighting, or electrical outlets to plug in our stand lights.
  • Enough room so that we don't disturb guests as they walk by. Three stringed instruments right beside your ear can make it very difficult to hear the other guests speaking. Please ensure that there is some room between the trio and the nearest guest table.
4. Should we plan a rain location?
  • Definitely. Neither you nor your guests will be happy saying "I do" in the rain. Please let us know what your rain location will be.
5. When will the trio take breaks?
  • Count on five to ten minutes per hour for a reception of two hours or more. We will be happy to co-ordinate this with speeches, etc. We often have two musicians continue to play, while the third takes a break. Some clients have certain times when they need us to stop playing. Obviously, that will be our logical break time. Some clients wish that the music be continuous. In that case, we would rotate our breaks, so that two people are always making music. Whatever your needs are, we will be happy to accomodate, as long as you let us know well in advance.
6. How do I go about booking the trio?
  • Contact Gail. See the "Contact Us" section of the website.
  • We ask for a 10 percent deposit. The balance will be paid on a cheque dated ten days prior to the wedding date. Payment must be received, in full, prior to your special day. If a cheque is NSF, then we will be happy to accept cash, in full, prior to the wedding date.
